Sandy Inglis is a Sydney-based artist originally from England, now residing in Gladesville, NSW. She graduated with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Fine Arts) from the University of Wollongong in 1988, majoring in Sculpture under renowned sculptor Bert Flugelman. Her studies also encompassed drawing, painting, printmaking, art theory, visual arts theory, and art history, complemented by further training in photography and welding.
Before dedicating herself fully to her artistic practice, Inglis worked across diverse creative fields including interior design and aviation. This varied professional background has contributed to the distinctive perspective and material sensitivity evident throughout her work.
Working across painting, sculpture and mixed media, Sandy has exhibited extensively throughout New South Wales for many years. Her work has been selected for numerous exhibitions and art prizes, including the Royal Easter Show, GreenWay Art Prize, Hunters Hill Art Exhibition, Lane Cove Art Award and Halloran Contemporary Art Prize.
Sandy’s artworks are held in the permanent collection of the University of Wollongong and in private collections across Australia. Her practice is distinguished by a strong sense of observation, imagination and storytelling, creating works that are both engaging and deeply personal.
